About Walt Disney

American - Animator & Entrepreneur | December 5, 1901 - December 15, 1966

Walt Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966), born Walter Elias Disney in Chicago, Illinois, was an American animator, film producer and entrepreneur. He grew up partly on a farm in Marceline, Missouri, served as a Red Cross ambulance driver after World War I and started his first animation studio in Kansas City, which went bankrupt.

Moving to Hollywood in 1923, Walt and his brother Roy founded what became the Walt Disney Company. In 1928 he introduced Mickey Mouse in *Steamboat Willie*, one of the first cartoons with synchronised sound, and in 1937 released *Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs*, the first full-length cel-animated feature film. He won a record 22 Academy Awards and opened Disneyland in 1955. His legacy also includes criticism, such as his hard line during the 1941 animators' strike and racial stereotypes in some early films. Here are 50 Walt Disney quotes.
