1. Copyright overview
Copyright protects original works of authorship — including videos, photographs, music, graphics and written content — the moment they are fixed in a tangible medium of expression. The owner of a copyrighted work has the exclusive right to reproduce, distribute, display, perform and create derivative works from it, subject to limited exceptions such as fair use.
SnapFetch does not host user-uploaded media. Our tools fetch content from publicly accessible URLs on third-party platforms and stream that content to the requesting browser. Even so, we take copyright complaints seriously and provide a clear takedown path for rights holders.
2. Our position as a stateless utility
Because we do not host the underlying media, taking the content off the internet requires a takedown request to the platform that actually stores it (for example, Instagram, YouTube or Facebook). What SnapFetch can do is block specific source URLs from being processed through our tools so that the content is not retrievable via our service.
3. Reporting infringement
If you believe content accessible through SnapFetch infringes your copyright, send an email to dmca@snapfetch.app with the subject line "DMCA Takedown Request". Submissions must come from the rights holder or an authorised agent.
4. Required takedown information
To be actionable under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), your notice must include all of the following:
- Your full legal name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (with a representative URL where possible).
- The exact URL(s) you want blocked from our tools, sufficient to allow us to locate the material.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on the rights holder's behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
5. Counter-notice process
If you believe a URL was blocked in error or as a result of misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice to dmca@snapfetch.app. Counter-notices must include:
- Your full name, postal address, telephone number and email.
- Identification of the URL that was blocked and its previous location on our service.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the URL was blocked as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your judicial district (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which SnapFetch may be found).
- Agreement to accept service of process from the original complainant.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
6. Repeat infringement policy
Consistent with 17 U.S.C. § 512(i), we maintain a policy of restricting access for users, IP ranges or network segments that submit URLs identified in multiple valid takedown notices. Repeat infringers may have their access permanently revoked without prior notice.
7. Content ownership clarification
Use of SnapFetch does not transfer any copyright, trademark or other intellectual property right to the user. The original creator or rights holder remains the owner of the work. SnapFetch claims no ownership over downloaded content.
8. Public content explanation
SnapFetch only interacts with content that is publicly accessible on the source platform without authentication. Publicly accessible does not mean public domain; copyright still applies. The Service is intended for personal archiving, education, journalism, research, fair-use commentary and the reuse of your own content across platforms you operate.
9. Misuse of the DMCA process
Knowingly submitting a fraudulent takedown notice may expose you to liability for damages, including costs and attorney's fees, under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). If you are unsure whether your claim is valid, please consult a qualified attorney before filing.
10. Designated agent & contact
